OVERNIGHT ARCHAEOLOGY ADVENTURE…

The Friends of Coronado Historic Site is hosting a 2-day trip to the Four Corners area of New Mexico to explore some archaeological sites that are open to the general public and some sites that require special permission to visit.

We will briefly visit Aztec National Monument to see the large ancestral Pueblo Great House and reconstructed kiva and then travel to a prehistoric pueblo ruin recently acquired by the Archaeological Conservancy. With time permitting we will visit other local prehistoric sites. On Sunday we’ll go to Largo, and Crow Canyons to view magnificent petroglyphs and pueblitos (Navajo/Puebloan structures). Linda Wheelbarger, an archaeologist from the San Juan Community College will provide interpretation. Our trip leaders will be  Friends members Earlene Shroyer and Steve Rospopo and the coordinator is Pat Harris.
