On April 23, 2017, friends and family celebrated the life of our beloved friend Diane Schuler with shared stories and beautiful music.
A native of Wisconsin, Diane came to New Mexico in 2014 with her husband, Craig Gibbs and beloved feline, Cassie, to make their home in Placitas. In three short years, Diane became a vital instrumental part of Coronado Historic Site’s docent program and our Kuaua research initiative. Diane spent hours in our Santa Fe archives, dedicating her time to scanning thousands of old archaeological field notes into an electronic data base. Diane was a tireless worker on the volunteer committee to develop the Coronado Research Library in 2016 and most recently assisted with the Docent Training Program.
An active member of the Jardineros de Placitas and the Placitas Community Library, Diane loved the mornings she devoted to reading with elementary school children in Algadones. She was also a DJ hosting the “All Things 70s Show” at KUPR 99.9FM radio station, Placitas.
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge how much we will miss Diane’s dedicated work ethic, scholarship, and professionalism. Diane enriched us all — visitors, staff, and friends alike. Thank you for gracing us with your big smile, open heart, and your laughter.
