Storytelling at Coronado

Emmett ‘Shkeme’ Garcia, a talented traditional storyteller from Santa Ana Pueblo, will be featured at Coronado Historic Site on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:15. Following the oral traditions of his elders, Garcia tells tales of the creation of the seasons, coyote stories, and legends of how things came to be. He is not only a storyteller, but also the award-winning author of two children’s books, “Coyote and the Sky” and “Sister Rabbit’s Tricks,” both published by University of New Mexico Press. Garcia is also the lead singer of the Native America reggae band, Native Roots, which will perform at Coronado at 1:30 on May 27.
