Sandhill Cranes Flying Over Kuaua

On a late autumn afternoon, walk along the museum trails at Coronado Historic Site, and you are likely to see migrating sandhill cranes passing through on their southward migration to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.  Bosque del Apache is located near San Antonio, New Mexico, over a hundred miles south of Bernalillo.  As many as 14,000 Sandhills will winter in the Bosque del Apache refuge before they head north again in February.
