Releasing the Toads

DSCN1833

The time has come to release our educational toads. Children and adults have loved the presence of the small toads at our recent outreach events and sitting at the front desk at the Visitor Center. We returned the toads to their home in the pond where they were tadpoles. We have been feeding them small grasshoppers, flies, and water bugs over the last few weeks. Toads and tadpoles are represented many times in pueblo artwork, and are usually associated with water. We gave Ranger Annie the privilege of actually releasing the toads, mainly because she keeps avoiding taking pictures that are going on the blog!
