Baby Spadefoot Toads

The rains have not only been fantastic for the plants of Coronado Historic Site, but it has also been great for all of the wildlife. Rangers Ethan and John have been collecting toads over the last few weeks to present at two different outreach activities to attract the attention of children. They collected the toads from the Rio Grande flood plain near the Site, where after the rains came, hundreds of baby toads were scattering as they walked. The toads have been a fantastic educational experience for children, and has sparked many discussions about the nature and ecosystems of our Site.
